Trial Limits

Lines of Code (LOC)

The Trial License also allows Code Generation Translations for systems no larger than 5,000 LOC VB6 and 2,500 LOC ASP.  

LOC includes all non-blank lines of content in the code files.

The Trial License allows doing Assessment Translations for any size codebase. Assessment translations do not generate .NET code but they provide translation logs and other advanced reports useful for identifying potential issues that might interfere with getting a translation of your system.  These logs and reports are intended to help you identify issues that may require Standard Support; and they may also be used for upgrade project planning. 

Duration

The Trial switches to Reporting-only mode after 30 days. 

Other Evaluation Options

In addition to the Trial, we offer several other options to save your time and effort in understanding our unique product and methodology.

  • The Standard Samples show how to configure gmStudio to produce functionally correct C# and VB.NET code. Both VB6 and ASP samples are available here. 

  • The gmStudio Promotional Edition License (free): this is a special license for gmStudio available for the MSDN Promotion on request.
    The Promotional Edition license may be acquired and renewed for no charge according to this process.
    The Promotional Edition is for VB6 systems up to 10K LOC. 
    The Promotional Edition does not support ASP translation nor some of our most advanced code re-engineering techniques.

  • The live Standard Demo (free): this web demo shows some of the advanced features of gmStudio using our standard VB6/ASP sample translations.

  • The Smart Start Package: You send us your code, subject to NDA if desired, and we translate it and walk you through the results and findings in a web meeting. Deliverables also include a one-month gmStudio Professional Edition license, detailed assessment reports, high-level recommendations for reengineering your system to use .NET, and all files needed to reproduce translations in your environment.   • The Custom Evaluation: This is a collaborative engagement to prove how gmStudio can be customized to help implement ambitious upgrade/rewrite objectives.
